NEW YORK: Incumbent Ivorian President Laurent Gbagbo has moved to silence critical media under the guise of media regulation, the Committee to Protect Journalists said yesterday, 10 February 2011, following a week in which Gbagbo's administration tightened control over the official print media regulatory agency and ordered United Nations-sponsored radio network ONUCI FM off the air. Human rights commissioner demands investigation of attacks in Egypt
BERLIN: Markus Löning, the federal government commissioner for Human Rights Policy at the Federal Foreign Office, responded to the Human Rights Watch report that at least 297 people have been killed during the unrest in Egypt since 28 January 2011, by issuing a statement earlier this week calling for an investigation.
