The Bizcommunity Cape Town team welcomed in spring last Friday with a flower-powered celebration that saw some crazy outfits come out of staff closets. I, for one, am glad blistery cold winter is finally over for 2010 and we're on the home-stretch to the festive season and some summer fun.
Coinciding with the advent of spring was the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) and the inaugural meeting of the
Declaration of Table Mountain's African steering committee in Kenya. Both these events will hopefully sow the seeds for a flourishing future for Africa, both economically and socially.
The AGRF conference, which took place in Ghana last week, was set on finding ways to boost investments in Africa's agricultural sector and instill food security across the continent. Reporting Development Network Africa covered the event; for RDNA coverage, go to
www.reportingdna.org.
The meeting of the steering committee for the Declaration of Table Mountain, a WAN-IFRA campaign, saw a commitment borne, on the part of African press freedom advocates present, to encourage African leaders to sign the Declaration and embrace a society that guarantees a free press, and in essence, a truly democratic rule.
Cheers,
Sindy Peters, Africa editor

[Henrie Geyser: motoring editor] If you want to play in a high stakes poker school you had better be sure that you know what you are doing otherwise you could come horribly unstuck because a fancy French accent, a flashy image and a keenness to be competitive are never going to be enough to take-on, let alone beat, a group of seasoned professionals.
