Alvarion, Safaricom to deploy nationwide WiMAX network in Kenya
Alvarion has announced its selection by Kenyan mobile services provider Safaricom for a three-year turnkey WiMAX project to deploy high-speed broadband services throughout Kenya. Using Alvarion's BreezeMAX solution at 3.5 GHz frequency band, the WiMAX network will enable wireless broadband for residential and corporate users, rural areas, municipalities, banks, schools and universities. Chrome your Google experience
Google launched its web browser, Chrome, in September 2008 and on 6 October 2009, announced it has added a set of themes to customise users' experiences. Google worked with Vivienne Westwood, Porsche design, Dolce and Gabbana, Chloe, artists, architects, musicians, illustrators, filmmakers, fashion and interior designers from around the globe to produce a set of more than 100 unique themes. “We've found that people like to customise their web experience,” said Tom Stocky, director of products at Google. Orange Uganda appoints Alcatel-Lucent
PARIS: Alcatel-Lucent announced yesterday, 9 October 2009, that Orange Uganda has selected Alcatel-Lucent to reduce its global network maintenance costs and improve network operating efficiencies. Alcatel-Lucent will build, operate and manage the Orange Uganda mobile network, by providing technical support, repair, field maintenance and program management services. Read more >>

Nigeria to use oil cash
Nigeria is planning to spend up to two billion US dollars from its oil cash reserves to boost its economy in response to the global downturn, the country's junior finance minister Remi Babalola announced this week.
