LAGOS: MTV Networks Africa has announced the contenders for the first MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMAs). The nominations for the inaugural pan-African music awards ceremony were revealed at a VIP soirée at Planet One, Lagos, Nigeria by Alex Okosi, senior vice president and managing director, MTV Networks Africa and Norman Moyo, chief marketing officer, Zain Nigeria.

African films made by local filmmakers from nine African countries is being broadcast across the region between September and October this year. These nine films for television tell stories within an emotional time of HIV/AIDS. They are being televised in different languages at prime time and are suitable for family viewing.
