First SA-produced smartphone set for release
South Africa's first locally produced smartphone is not only set to make significant strides in the local technology industry, but it also boasts more security than popular smartphones in the industry.

The T-Touch, due for release this month, is the brainchild of Wits University alumni Thulani Khoza, who partnered with fellow ‘Witsie’, Karabo Masenyadiloana, who handles the business elements of the phone.
"It all started when I first developed a security app, and people responded well to it, so I thought that I could take it a step further and I started developing the phone,”Khoza said.
The Android-powered smartphone has been in development since 2008 and has all the basic elements of a smartphone.
However, according to Khoza, it has additional security features. "There is an additional security element to the T-Touch that allows you as the user to encrypt the phone yourself."
