M-Net launches brand new Tanzanian focused channelBongo movie enthusiasts have something to smile about with the announcement of the launching of a brand new Tanzanian focused general entertainment channel MAISHA MAGIC BONGO on M-Net. ![]() ©Cathy Yeulet via 123RF MultiChoice Tanzania Public Relations Manager Barbara Kambogi said at a press conference that the launch is part of M-Net's 'hyper-local' African content strategy, and its latest channel has been created to meet the needs of growing Tanzanian television audiences and aims to serve as a platform to celebrate dynamic Tanzanian screen talent.
"The channel schedule will also include Swahili dubbed Indian movies to cater to the Bollywood loving fans as well," Kambogi said. M-Net Director for East Africa Theo Erasmus says, "We are delighted to unveil this new channel and look forward to growing it into a strong Tanzanian brand, with the support of Tanzanian audiences who have always been loyal to M-Net and for whom we have specifically developed this new offering. "We are especially pleased that we have been able to acquire some great programming from a range of top local producers who have engaged with us and we are looking to broaden our already long-standing partnership with the local film and TV community to ensure that their achievements are showcased more widely." Now, just a month after it was announced during the DStv Content Showcase in Mauritius, MAISHA MAGIC BONGO is ready to launch and there are a number of highlights to look out for. Bongo movies will be screened every Monday to Friday at 17:00 EAT plus on Saturdays and Sundays at 19.30 EAT. Meanwhile Swahili dubbed Indian films will be on air every Friday at 19:30 EAT. Titles scheduled for October includes: Hard Price, Jimmy, Nampenda Motika and Nusra among popular Bongo films. Ahista Ahista, I am 24, Jimmy, Anwar and the action packed Amar Akbar Anthony features among the Indian titles. On the drama series side, tune in for soulful Talaka (Tuesdays at 19:00 EAT), the must-watch Mtaro (Mondays at 19:00 EAT), the timeless Siri ya Mtungi (Saturdays and Sundays at 18:00 EAT) and the youthful Dunia Tambara Mbovu (Fridays at 19:00 EAT). |
