UCT GSB Executive Education ranked top in Africa
The UCT GSB is one of only two African business schools to make it onto the list - the University of Stellenbosch Business School (USB) was listed in 63rd place.
It is only the second time the school has been featured in the international ranking and director of Executive Education at the UCT GSB, Elaine Rumboll, described the placement as "confirmation that our approach to adult learning is up there with the best-in-class."
Promotion for business education
"The ranking also reflects that South Africa is increasingly being recognised as an education destination that offers both quality and value-for-money," remarked Rumboll. "The achievements of these two business schools serve as great promotion for business education in South Africa and on the African continent as a whole," she said.
Further evaluation of the 2011 rankings table shows that the UCT GSB Executive Education Programme was ranked 43rd value for money programme, significantly ahead of top global schools such as MIT Sloan (Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of management).
Other areas where the business school performed well on the ranking included International Clients (29th), Partner Schools (20th) and International Partnerships (32nd). It achieved above expectation in the Future Use (21st) and Overseas Programmes (12th) categories.
The World Custom Ranking ranks programmes that have been customised for specific clients. GSB works in partnership with clients such as Johnson & Johnson, SAB and BHP Billiton to develop learning experiences that are tailored to the specific needs and challenges facing each.
In addition to this achievement, the UCT GSB full-time MBA programme moved up 29 places to 60th place this year in the Financial Times (FT) of London's Global MBA Top 100 Ranking and was ranked as the best value for money MBA in the world.
