    Flower show for Africa

Africa will have it's own flower show with the launch of The Cape Town Flower Show in South Africa, 27-30 October 2016.
    Flower show for Africa

The Cape Town Flower Show is a new annual event being held at the Castle of Good Hope, an important heritage site in the centre of the city of Cape Town. The Cape Town Flower Show celebrates Cape Town’s unique position at the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom and takes place in a famous, historical venue that boasts Table Mountain as its backdrop.

In the Castle’s forecourt, more than 20 show gardens will be presented, designed by some of South Africa’s best local, national and international landscapers.

Other features at the show include a floral theatre where daily elimination MasterFlorist competitions will take place, along with floral demonstrations and displays. A varied and exciting workshop and demo schedule has been designed to appeal to all age groups. Visitors can find out more about anything from permaculture to orchid care; vertical vegetable growing; biomimicry; flower healing; and water-wise gardening.

The event will showcase and exhibit a wide range of horticultural and gardening ideas and products from SA’s top nurseries and suppliers. Visitors can also enjoy a ‘flowers in art’ exhibition, where local artists will display and sell their artworks featuring flowers, and a botanical display celebrating the Cape’s floral status and heritage.

In the rear courtyard of the Castle is ‘The Backyard’ - the show’s food court - where visitors can relish a variety of great South African food, wine and fizz, all set among food gardens.

Also appearing at the Cape Town Flower Show will be the renowned Cape Town flower sellers.

As Leon Kluge, one of the show garden designers and a reputable international export garden designer, says, “I’m thrilled to be participating in the Cape Town Flower Show and that there will now be a proper flower show in Africa.”

The show will be open daily, 10am-9pm (Thurs-Sat) and 10am-5pm on Sunday, 27-30 October 2016. There are also various travel packages available.
