Emma Kaye re-elected to MEF EMEA board
Member companies based in more than 15 countries gathered at the elections to cast their ballot. Representatives from Dolby, du, Mobile Interactive Group, Mira Networks, Sony Pictures and Telefonica were voted onto board during the Mobile World Congress held early last week. The new board subsequently voted to re-elect Gerrit Jan Konijnenberg, Comfone, as chairman and BBC¹s Mark Kortekaas and Qtel¹s Colin Yeh as co-vice Chairmen.
Kaye, first African to be elected
Kaye was re-elected in her capacity as a director of Mira Networks. She was also recently renamed one of the top 50 women in mobile globally for the second year running by Mobile Entertainment and is also the first African to be elected to the MEF EMEA board.
Kaye is recognised for her expertise in the world of mobile entertainment, providing content and entertainment driven solutions to the global mobile ecosystem encompassing operators to social development projects. Over the past two years, Kaye has focused on localising content - a need that is driven by local markets who are mostly exposed to foreign imported content. Kaye and her team conceptualise, localise and create content as well as implement strategic content solutions that are relevant to the end-user, the brand and the operator.
Said Gerrit Jan Konijnenberg, MEF EMEA chairman, "I am delighted to welcome the new and re-elected representatives to the EMEA board who bring a wealth of insight from across the EMEA region and the mobile value chain. I look forward to us facilitating the next wave of mobile media innovation and information exchange with a particular focus on the Middle East and South Africa."
Andrew Bud, MEF global chairman, commented, "MEF EMEA has achieved some significant milestones in creating local value for MEF¹s membership and supporting the creation of an open ecosystem of skilled partners. I have every confidence that MEF EMEA¹s skilled board can help accelerate these achievements."
