    CNBC Africa goes pan-African

CNBC Africa concluded a satellite distribution agreement with Multichoice Africa on 16 April, 2009. The agreement makes the channel available to DStv viewers in 41 countries across sub-Saharan Africa.

Viewers in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and other major cities in Africa previously had access to CNBC Africa via free-to-air, pay TV and terrestrial agreement in the respective regions.

Gary Alfonso, CNBC Africa's chief operating officer, says business news content relevant to the African audience is playing an ever-increasing role in the African market. "Economic participation is a right, not a privilege, and efforts such as CNBC Africa and DStv joining forces to expand the platform for African participation in the economic debate, only strengthens business opportunities and entrepreneurship on the continent", says Alfonso.

The 24-hour international business channel will be available to DStv Premium, Compact and Family subscribers in Angola, Benin, Burundi, Cameroon, Cote D'Ivoire, Congo, DRC, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Togo and Uganda, following on from its earlier launch across Southern Africa. DStv viewers in countries like Senegal in West Africa, as well as Seychelles and Mauritius in East Africa, will be able to access CNBC Africa by September this year.

Presenters and anchors on CNBC Africa include Bronwyn Nielsen, Lerato Mbele, Alishia Seckam, Eleni Giokos, Fenly Foxen, Mandlakazi Mphahlwa, Christine Tan, Maria Bartiromo, Geoff Cutmore and Simon Hobbs, as well as newcomers Terryanne Chebet in Kenya and Uche Okoronkwo in Nigeria.
