    DISCOP Africa 2009 sold out

    DISCOP Africa is a networking and business event aiming to bring together programming, acquisitions, production, distribution and advertising executives to implement solutions to enhance the development of television content business in Africa. The sold-out event is currently being held, 25 - 27 February 2009 in Senegal, Dakar.

    The travelling DISCOP Africa expo aims to initiate and facilitate audiovisual content business across the African continent. The event hosts international suppliers of feature films, finished programs, scripted and unscripted formats and packaged TV channels; audiovisual content buyers representing African TV stations and television content distribution platforms; advertisers involved in the funding and the acquisitions of programming and organisations interested in building the African television marketplace.

    The 2nd DISCOP Africa will take place from Wednesday, 16 September to Friday, 18 September at the Hilton Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. The event will feature two days of individual meetings organised in advance by in-house research staff and a one-day conference addressing issues related to the development of television business in Africa, such as:

    • How to create a compelling programming bouquet that can attract viewers and advertising revenues?
    • How to build and manage an efficient television air-time sales department?
    • How to provide health care and medical news to the public via television?
    • How to market African locations to international producers and create an enabling environment for the development of a vibrant co-production industry in Africa?

      A forum will also take place adressing co-production opportunities between Brazil and African content producers.
