Freestylin' Dance Africa winner
The search for Africa's freestyle dance talent started four months ago with Lungile and Angelo scouring the continent to find the most entertaining, original and most versatile dancer on the continent.
It was a tough call but Dithebe, an entrant from Johannesburg, got the unanimous vote from the five judges who included: Obi Asika, Chairman of Storm Media group in Nigeria; Pinky Ghelani, radio and TV personality from Kenya; Koketso Sachane, a DJ from Heart 104.9 in Cape Town; Tshedi Mholo, lead singer of Malaika; and Sifiso Kweyama from Dance Umbrella.
Yolisa Phahle, Channel O General Manager is happy with the results: “All of the finalists were amazing dancers and in my mind have the ability to make it to the top of their game. We had judges from Nigeria and Kenya to ensure that the dancers from outside of South Africa were not at a disadvantage but at the end of the day, the judges made their decision and it was Abraham's night.”
"This show has captivated viewers from all over the continent and we at Channel O are very proud to have created the first ever pan African dance show,” said Phahle.
The competition was held at club @mospheer in Lansdowne, Cape Town. Abraham wins himself a two week fully paid scholarship with Dance Umbrella, an appearance in Malaika's latest music video as well as an opportunity to perform at the Channel O African Music Video Awards which will be held in October this year.
Catch the rebroadcast of the finale on Channel O, DStv channel 87, this Sunday at 5:30pm.
