SADC judges conference set to kick off in Zimbabwe
According to the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, some of the delegates were already in Victoria Falls, where the conference is scheduled to take place.
The chief justices meet every year for the Southern African Chief Justices' Forum (SACJF).
The conference, which is expected to draw delegates from chief justices in the region, will also have participants from Kenya and Uganda, the report said. The conference is supported by the Africa Regional Programme of the International Commission of Jurists.
The chief justices will seek to examine how jurisdictions in the region have used innovations to enhance fair trial rights in their countries, Radio VOA reported.
They will also explore how reforms in appointment procedures of judges, judicial training initiatives, and other reforms in the sector have contributed towards achieving fair trial rights in various countries.
The SACJF conference has previously been held in Botswana, South Africa, Uganda, Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.
