Forum to focus on Africa's leading businesswomen

Women are the key to African economic development and are increasingly driving the global economy.
Forum to focus on Africa's leading businesswomen

This is the main idea behind the first Leading Businesswomen of Africa Forum to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from May 18 to 21, 2008 to promote women businesses in Africa.

The Foundation for Development of Africa (FDA) has endorsed this event, and Peter Metcalfe, chairperson of the FDA, will chair the event.

“The Leading Businesswomen of Africa Forum 2008 is designed to be a platform that will create awareness and showcase the vast business and investment opportunities for businesswomen from across the continent,” said Madelein Mkunu, CEO of Feminar Business Network, which initiated the forum.

Women economic leaders and role-players from all regions of Africa would attend the forum, said Mkunu. Experts from international and local institutions would address the event on issues affecting African businesswomen.

“The outcome that Leading Businesswomen of Africa Forum 2008 hopes to achieve is to serve as a catalyst in mainstreaming and supporting the creation of numerous successful business and investment initiatives,” said Mkunu.

Venue: Table Bay Hotel, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town
    Date: May 18-21, 2008
