Sign Africa and Africa Print Expo set for 2012

Practical Publishing is said to be all geared up for the International Sign Africa and Africa Print Expo taking place from 22-24 August 2012 at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa. This expo is aimed at providing business opportunities, equipment and consumables relating to the printing and signage industries.

Sign Africa will provide a platform into Africa for the sign, wide format digital printing, design, graphics and marketing arenas. South Africa is reported to be the gateway into Africa. Sign Africa offers the opportunity for local and international visitors to investigate the various available business ventures, gathering ideas from the range of new products for the signage and display industries.

    What to expect

There will be displays and information on the latest developments, together with business opportunities including photo books and brand new innovations in wide format technology like the new Roland and Mimaki latex printers.

During the expo the Sign Africa Conference will also take place with guest speaker, Dr Nicholas Hellmuth, who dedicates his time to preparing evaluations of wide-format printers, inks, substrates, RIP software, colour management tools, flatbed cutters and CNC routers, liquid coaters, laminators, professional digital photography and flatbed scanning equipment.

The purpose is to assist printshop owners and managers, and distributors, to learn about the pros and cons of wide-format inkjet printers, especially UV-curable flatbeds, but also eco, mild, lite, and bio-solvent printers, as well as water-based inks for textiles, giclee, and fine art photography.

    Commercial printing

The Africa Print expo sponsor, Xerox, will be showcasing the Xerox 1000 and Xerox550. Ricoh SA will headline three important products in Johannesburg, including two multifunction printers, one black and white and one colour which will be displayed alongside a projector, the full Ricoh range of which includes mobile and short throw projectors that extend document management from the printed page and single screen view.

Konica Minolta South Africa will showcase digital production press award winners, its comprehensive photo book solution and innovative products. Visitors can also view print finishing solutions from Kemtek Imaging Systems, including new Duplo and Durst products which were launched at drupa in May.

    Brands and products on show

Visitors will be able to see the following brands: Xerox, Avery Dennison, Roland, Konica Minolta SA, Ricoh, Mimaki and Hewlett Packard, to name but a few. Moreover, the expo is not only targeted at digital and commercial printers, but at entrepreneurs interested in exploring new business opportunities.

You will be able to see products and services for digital printing, banners and flags, photo books, photos on mugs, dye sublimation, screen printing, inks, paper, vinyls and substrates, laminating and finishing, display and directional signage systems, routers and engraving, magnetic sheets, laser cutting and engraving, equipment to print on T-shirts, and digital signage.

"We are looking forward to the expo and believe the expo will attract more visitors this year than the previous year. Local and international visitors from all over will descend upon the Sandton Convention Centre", says Charnia Yapp, organiser of the Africa Print and Sign Africa Expos.
