    2009 AABC Conference set for Queensland

    The 2009 Australia Africa Business Council International Trade and Investment Conference will be held over three days from 6 - 8 September 2009 at Sea World on Queensland's Gold Coast, Australia. The major sponsor for this year's conference is the Queensland government.

    The Australian federal and state governments and the business community are aiming to strengthen the bi-lateral relationship with African countries. They have noted that emerging African markets may provide lucrative investment opportunities for Australian businesses in a various industry sectors.

    The AABC's 2009 Conference plans to offer Australian and African businesses, an opportunity for networking with key
    decision-makers. It aims to serve as a platform for dialogue, the exchange of ideas, trade and investment opportunities. Key specialists will provide an in-depth analysis of the African and Australian business environment. The conference plans to dispel the myths and allow for informed investment decisions, with information that makes sense of some of the key
    issues affecting the trade and investment relationship between Australia and Africa.

    Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Queensland Premier Anna Bligh have been invited to address the conference. The conference hopes to attract African high commissioners to Australia, Australian high commissioners to Africa, senior trade commissioners and industry professionals from both continents.

    The line-up of high-end business and government specialists from both continents will provide an in-depth insight into: mining, technology, agriculture, education, finance, tourism, ICT, Infrastructure development and climate change opportunities.

    Questions will be open to the floor at the end of each session.
