Design title commemorates Africa Day

DESIGN>13, is, according to the magazine, the largest-ever edition so far. It covers designers and design projects in more than 16 African countries, dedicating a large portion of editorial space to African design.
The spelling of 'Afrika' is meant to symbolise "an ethos of self-definition and self-determination and recognise the fact that the letter ‘c' is not used in most African languages."
Africa Day, which is celebrated on 25 May every year, marks the founding in 1963 of the Organisation of African Unity, now known as the African Union.
According to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Africa Day is meant to highlight Africa's achievements and to offer an opportunity to take stock of the massive and urgent challenges that remain on the continent.
