25° in Africa at 2009 Climate Change Summit
The 2009 Climate Summit, which resulted in guidance on the strategic direction for an effective climate policy as well as an ambitious work programme for policy development, succeeded in laying the foundations for a participatory process which will culminate in a Policy White Paper on climate change by 2010, and the translation of this policy into a legislative, regulatory and fiscal package by 2012.
“25° in Africa, in line with the conference's mantra, “Climate Action Now!”, has committed to being a catalyst in order to meet the challenge of disseminating quality, reliable information on energy, energy challenges and resultant climate change consequences,” commented Marlene Raubenheimer, editor of 25° in Africa.
The magazine also held an interactive stand at the summit which had a visit from South African President Kgalema Motlanthe.
“We see recognition from key government officials as proof of our growing influence and role in motivating stakeholders to deal with climate change with an increased sense of urgency,” concludes Raubenheimer.
