Is wild Africa disappearing?
In 2006, Africa Geographic took the unprecedented step of devoting an entire issue of the magazine to a single species: elephants. In 2007, spurred by the success of this experiment, the publishing team pushed the boat out even further, resulting in the hugely successful "Climate Change issue" (August 2007).
In August 2008, the magazine returns to its conservation and wildlife roots, bringing readers a detailed and critical look at the state of conservation across the continent.
"It's proven to be a massive undertaking," acknowledges editor, Sarah Borchert, "and, although, its tempting to feel overwhelmed by the enormous challenges that face us, I am oddly uplifted by them - they're only this huge because we still have so much to save. The overriding message in this issue is just how astonishing Africa's biodiversity is - from lions, leopards and cheetahs, to golden moles, frogs and baobabs, this continent has it all."
Africa Geographic's 120 000 strong readership provides a targeted platform to communicate your brand's environmental commitment. Says publisher, Tanya Caldwell, "Africa Geographic readers want to know what is being done to conserve and sustain our environment, companies that have active environmental policies would do well to promote them. Increasingly consumer choices are shifting to brands that align themselves with green principles and actively participate in cleaning up their act."
