Africa magazine group still growing in circulation
For the fourth consecutive year IC Publications magazines have registered an increase in their audited circulation. The new ABC certificates, for January to December 2007, show a cumulative growth of 8.6% in comparison to 2006 figures, and a 42% rise since the group re-joined ABC in 2004.
The three IC magazines, New African, The Middle East and African Business, continue to be the undisputed leading pan-African and pan-Arab monthlies in English.
ABC figures show that New African is the best selling English language audited pan-African magazine, while African Business is the best selling audited pan-African business magazine and The Middle East is the best selling pan-Arab audited current affairs magazine.
Despite claims by other publishers to join audit bureaus and threats in the industry to boycott non-audited titles, audited circulation figures in the both Africa and the Arab world remain the exception rather than the norm. Hence, IC Publications urges advertisers and anyone involved in the industry to question why the other titles have been so slow to get their circulations verified, especially when they are happy to shout about their suspiciously high circulation figures. Joining the ABC has not only helped the group be more thorough and organised in terms of distribution and sales, but it has been mirrored by substantial increases in advertising revenues.
