NPCA announces new winners in contest

The National Peace Corps Association has disqualified one of the winners of the 'My piece of the Peace Corps' YouTube contest. The entry 'The Peace Corps Effect,' featuring a Moldovan teenager, had won first place, but the judges ruled that the song used in the video was actually under copyright and violated contest rules.

The judges have selected new winners:

First place: Carrie Pavlik of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania will receive a US$2,500 cash prize for her video, "My piece of the Peace Corps."
Second place: John Garvey, a Peace Corps volunteer serving in Burkina Faso who is from Chicago, Illinois, will receive a US$1,000 cash prize for his light-hearted video, "A Peace Corps song."

Third place: Matthew Hardwick, a Peace Corps volunteer serving in Vanuata who is from Lakeland, Florida, will receive a US$500 cash prize for his video, "Leaving home (Vanuatu)."
