IABC expands African footprint
According to the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), despite the current financial crisis causing a decline in membership, the organisation is growing in Africa. Membership statistics released yesterday, 27 July 2009 revealed that the IABC Africa region had the highest growth (37,84%) and retention rate (85%) in the world, year on year.
The Ubuntu chapter achieved the second highest growth rate and the Pretoria and Johannesburg chapters were amongst the top 25 fastest-growing chapters.
New IABC African chapters were established in Monrovia, Liberia, and Lagos, Nigeria. The chapter in Monrovia was launched on Saturday, 25 July, and on Thursday, 30 July, the chapter in Nigeria will be officially launched in Lagos.
