    CNBC Africa to cover 'World Economic Forum on Africa'

    CNBC Africa, the business television news channel, is the official broadcaster for the upcoming 'World Economic Forum on Africa' taking place in Cape Town, South Africa this year. The forum takes place from Wednesday, 8 May to Friday, 10 May at the Cape Town Convention Centre.
    CNBC Africa to cover 'World Economic Forum on Africa'

    CNBC Africa will be host a live panel discussion at the forum, titled 'Agriculture: Investing in Transformation', on Thursday, 9 May at 3:30pm CAT.

    The panellists at the discussion include:

  • Hailemariam Dessalegn, prime minister of Ethiopia
  • Jane Karuku, president of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA)
  • Philip Kiriro, president and chairman of the Eastern Africa Farmers Federation (EAFF), Kenya
  • Michael Mack, chief executive officer of Syngenta International, Switzerland
  • James Mwangi, group chief executive officer and managing director of Equity Bank, Kenya

    Senior anchor, Bronwyn Nielsen will moderate the session. Under the theme 'Delivering on Africa's Promise', the 23rd 'World Economic Forum on Africa' will provide an important platform for regional and global leaders from business, government and civil society to deepen the continent's integration agenda and renew commitment to a sustainable path of growth and development.

    Key issues to be discussed

    Some of the key issues and questions that will be tackled during the live panel discussion include, bolstering infrastructure, developing regional markets, empowering women farmers and enabling private-sector investment. How are partnerships in the region accelerating investment in agriculture?
