SA, Kenyan photographers win at Photoafrica contest
TARIFA: Photographers from South Africa and Kenya picked up awards at the fourth Photoafrica contest, which took place within the eighth African Film Festival of Tarifa in Spain.
The topic of this year's Photoafrica competition was "Urban Space" of African cities seen through the photographers eyes. There were 25 photographers from 11 African countries competing with their works in the finale of this year's contest.
The exhibiton of 27 large format photographs from the finale was inaugurated and is installed outdoors in Tarifa. After the end of the festival, the exhibition will be travelling the whole year through Spanish and African cities.
Winners:
- First place went to Jessica MacLeod, SA for the photograph titled "You see a shack, I see my house".
- Second place went to James Muriuki, Kenya, for the photograph titled "44".
- Third place went to Mimi Cherono, Kenya, also winner of the third Photoafrica, for the photograph titled "Khusi and the Giraffes".
