    Tarifa African Film Festival partners APO

    The African Film Festival of Tarifa has partnered with the African Press Organisation (APO) for the eighth edition of the event. The festival will take place from 11-19 June 2011, in Tarifa-Cadix, Spain. The APO will be in charge of the distribution of press releases regarding the event to African and international media.

    "The press releases concerning the eighth African Film Festival of Tarifa will systematically be distributed to the online database of press releases, APO-Source, as well as to our partners' websites: PR Newswire, LexisNexis, Comtex, BurellesLuce, StarAfrica.com, A24 Media, Afrik.com and Afrik-news.com. They will be indexed, available on Google, and sent by targeted emailing to 1500 journalists covering culture in Africa," said Jennipher Tambadou, APO's business development manager.

    Festival categories

    The African Film Festival of Tarifa will feature three competition categories; "The African Dream" (feature films), "On the other side of the Strait" (documentaries), and "Africa in Short" (short films).

    "Open Screen", a selection of the best and more diverse films; "Africa in Rhythm", selection of films about African music and/or dance and "Animafrica", a selection of full-length animation films, will not be part of the competition.

    The festival will present several thematic and monographic retrospectives: "Monographic Abdellatif Ben Ammar" (complete filmography of the Tunisian filmmaker) ; "Cinema and the City" (The African city seen through cinema); the two "Special Nights", devoted to Moroccan documentary and Congolese cinema, and the traditional "African Diaspora in Latin America".
