Highway Africa 2009 - reporting HIV/AIDS in Africa

Highway Africa 2009 will be hosting a seminar next week on "Re-thinking how we report on HIV and AIDS in Africa". The programme aims to provide journalists with new tools and approaches to overcome media fatigue.

The seminar is part of the Hearts and Minds campaign which seeks to inspire HIV and AIDS reporting in Africa through innovative ways to cover the topic. It will take place 11.30am - 12.45pm on Tuesday, 8 September 2009, at Eden Grove Blue, Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa.

It will look at effective HIV and AIDS reporting, screens a debut video documenting the efforts of journalists in Botswana to refocus on this issue, and participate in an open discussion to generate new ideas for creative and effective HIV and AIDS reporting. A toolkit on HIV and AIDS reporting will be distributed.
