    Europe-Africa Summit: Portugal assists African journalists

    Portugal is offering free lodging to eight African journalists eager to take part in the media cover of the Europe-Africa Summit on December 8-9.

    This is according to a statement by the secretary-general of the African Press Organization (APO), Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard. The aim is to encourage African journalists to cover the summit, which takes place in the Portugese capital

    He will be discussing the issue of assisting with travel costs on November 13 with Ian Barber, Chief of “Information and Communication” unit of the DG Development of the European Commission.

    Only applications sent before 1200 on November 15 will be considered.

    The Ministry for the Foreign Affairs of Portugal will cater for lodging and the shuttle from the place of lodging and the conference centre. All other expenses will be the responsibility of the journalist or his media.
