    Boom Town Advertising awarded account for PE Metro's new university

    Boom Town Advertising has been awarded the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) account.

    The decision to appoint Boom Town as the advertising agency for the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, to be formed through the merger of PE Technikon and UPE (incorporating Vista: PE) on 1 January 2005, was approved by the Interim Council Elect of the new institution for a period of two years.

    This account involves the development and launch of the University's new brand and corporate identity, the launch advertising campaign and assistance with the long-term marketing communications strategy thereafter.

    The process of appointing an advertising agency for the NMMU started last year, when four advertising agencies (three from Port Elizabeth and one from Cape Town) were short-listed based on credentials submitted. The agencies were then invited to, amongst others, create a brand strategy and corporate identity for the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

    Stakeholders representing the PE Technikon and UPE then evaluated the creative presentations and Boom Town scored and rated highest in the majority of categories.

    The project is coordinated by a Branding Working Group, comprising representatives from both the PE Technikon and UPE.
